The ‘Kalamata Olives’ is a very special one. It connects to my fathers Greek heritage and pays homage to area where he was from. The village where he was from, Rhoda is a mountain village not far from Kalamata in the Peloponnese.

Growing up, my Papou would send back the olive oil from their farm and it was the best you’d ever tasted. My grandparents liked to have a bit of Greece with them while living in Australia. He would pick the olives from the tree in their backyard and let them cure with brine in big Coca-cola bottles. As a kid I would find a big bottle of Coke deep in the cubboard to quench my thirst - but surely enough it was always a big 2 litre bottle filled with olives instead.
